LABEAUX NAMED ICCAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Trevion LaBeaux (Waterloo, IA/Ames) of the Indian Hills Men's Baskteball team has been named the 2023-24 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Basketball Player of the Year, announced by the league office Monday.

LaBeaux's breakout sophomore campaign led to the program's seventh consecutive ICCAC Player of the Year honor as the forward joins elite company in Indian Hills Men's Basketball history. The sophomore led the Warriors to a 27-5 overall record, an NJCAA Region 11 Championship, an NJCAA North Central District Championship, and the No. 5 overall seed in the upcoming NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, KS, which gets underway March 26 for the Warriors.

Following an All-Region selection as a freshman, LaBeaux elevated his game during his second season in Ottumwa. LaBeaux posted team-high averages of 13.4 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per contest to become the first Warrior to average a double-double since Chris Payton in 2020-21. LaBeaux finished the 2023-24 campaign shooting 51.4 percent from the floor while also contributing 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per game on the defensive end of the floor.

LaBeaux tallied 21 contests in double-figures on the year, including a career-high 30 points on the road against ICCAC foe Marshalltown Community College on January 17. LaBeaux also tallied 14 games with double-digit rebound totals with a season-high 19 at Coastal Alabama Community College – North on November 15. On the year, LaBeaux tallied 12 double-doubles on the year.

For his efforts throughout the year, LaBeaux was tapped as a four-time ICCAC Player of the Week, winning the award on back-to-back weeks on two separate occasions.

On the national scene, LaBeaux was one of just five players in the nation to average at least 13.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor. Of those five, LaBeaux was one of just two to own a free throw percentage of 70.0 percent or better on the year.

In four regular season league games this season, LaBeaux carried the Warriors to an undefeated record in conference action. The sophomore tallied 13.3 points per game while shooting 52.9 percent from the floor, 50.0 percent from three-point range, and 75.0 percent from the charity stripe while pulling down 9.5 boards per contest.

LaBeaux will lead the Warriors to next week's national tournament for the sophomore's second stint in Hutchinson after helping the Warriors to a semifinal appearance in 2023. LaBeaux and the Warriors are set for the upcoming NJCAA National Tournament where the team will play at 2:15 PM on Tuesday, March 26 against the winner of No. 5 seed Lee College (TX) and No. 21 seed Wallace State Community College (AL).
