WARRIORS JUMP INTO TOP 20 IN NATIONAL POLL

Ottumwa, IA – After a monumental win on Sunday, the Indian Hills Men's Soccer team checked into the national rankings this week at No. 20. The Warriors sport an 8-4-0 overall record on the year.

One day after upsetting No. 6 Iowa Lakes Community College 3-1 at home, the Warriors received five votes in this week's poll to earn a spot in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Soccer rankings. The Warriors have been ranked as high as No. 18 in the rankings this year.

Freshman Daniele Verdirosi (Rome, Italy/Araniti) netted a hat trick on Sunday to carry the Warriors to the upset win over Iowa Lakes. The forward ranks second in the country with 12 goals on the year while fellow freshman Ron Becker (Tubingen, Germany/Evangelisches Firstwald Gymnasium) added an assist in the win and ranks fifth in the nation with eight helpers this year.

The Warriors have now won three of its last four contests, with its lone loss a 2-1 extra time loss at conference foe Marshalltown Community College. The Warriors are currently second in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with a 2-1-0 overall record on the year.

Indian Hills currently ranks second in the nation with 57 goals on the year while the team is tied for first with 161 shots this season.

The Warriors are set to take on No. 1 nationally ranked Iowa Western Community College in ICCAC play on Wednesday. Indian Hills will head to Council Bluffs for a 1:00 PM matchup.
