MARQUES LANDS ICCAC WEEKLY HONOR

Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Gustavo Marques (São Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Anglo Indaiatuba) netted four goals last week, including a hat trick to land Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week honors for the Indian Hills Men's Soccer team. Marques becomes the second Warrior this year to earn weekly accolades for the conference office.

Marques strung together his two best performances of the year in back-to-back matches last week. The freshman netted three goals in a near-upset of No. 1 nationally ranked and unbeaten Iowa Western Community College in an ICCAC matchup. Trailing 2-0, Marques found the back of the net twice in the span of two minutes late in the second half. The forward recorded the hat trick with a strike in the 83rd minute to tie the game at three and force extra time.

The Warriors eventually fell to Iowa Western, but Marques carried the momentum over to the team's next match at Iowa Central Community College. Indian Hills once again needed extra time, but Marques' number was called once again as the freshman scored in the 95th minute to top the Tritons.

Marques ranks third on the team this season with eight goals. The freshman has posted three matches with at least two goals, including the hat trick against Iowa Western.

Indian Hills is back in action Thursday at 1:00 PM as the Warriors host Lewis & Clark College (IL).
