MARQUES ADDS NATIONAL HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Gustavo Marques (São Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Anglo Indaiatuba) has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for his performance during the week of Sept. 26 – Oct. 1 for the Indian Hills Men's Soccer squad.

Marques, who has also been named this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, led the No. 19 nationally ranked Warrior squad in a pair of impressive showings last week. Marques netted his first-career hat trick in a thrilling 4-3 double overtime loss to No. 1 Iowa Western Community College on Wednesday. Marques followed up with the overtime game-winner in a 2-1 road win at Iowa Central Community College on Saturday.

Marques' four goals last week led to the Warriors' first national player of the week recognition since Pablo Marques earned the honor on August 31, 2021.

Marques ranks third on the team this year with eight goals and has posted three matches with at least two goals in a game this season.

The Warriors are back in action at 1:00 PM Thursday afternoon at home vs. Lewis & Clark College (IL).
