BECKER, SCARDUZIO LAND ICCAC HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – The No. 18 Indian Hills Men's Soccer team collected a pair of Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Player of the Week awards after clinching the 2022 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Soccer Region XI Championship.

Freshman Ron Becker (Tubingen, Germany/Evangelisches Firstwald Gymnasium) was named ICCAC Offensive Player of the Week after wining tournament MVP honors. Becker helped guide the Warriors to two postseason victories on the way to the team's second-ever region championship. Becker tallied an assist in the semifinal round, a 2-0 win over Iowa Lakes Community College. The freshman midfielder managed the offense throughout the postseason and created scoring opportunities for the Warriors.

Becker currently ranks sixth in the nation and is tied for first in the ICCAC with 11 assists on the year. Becker becomes the third individual to earn ICCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors this year.

Sophomore Matteo Scarduzio (San Secondo Parmense, Italy/Fabio Bocchialini) was tapped as the ICCAC Goalie of the Week after pitching two shutouts in the postseason, including a clean sheet against No. 2 nationally ranked and top-seeded Iowa Western Community College. Scarduzio stopped four shots in the championship round to earn Goalie of the Tournament honors.

Scarduzio stood tall in the postseason to pitch the pair of shutouts to give him three clean sheets for his career while earning his 9th victory in net at Indian Hills. The weekly conference honor is the second in Scarduzio's career.

The duo will lead the Warriors into the NJCAA Midwest District Tournament set to get underway Friday in East Peoria, IL where Indian Hills will take on No. 7 Jefferson College (MO).
