VERDIROSI NAMED FIRST-TEAM ALL-AMERICAN

Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Daniele Verdirosi (Rome, Italy/Araniti) of the Indian Hills Men's Soccer team has been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Soccer First-Team All-America squad.

Following a breakout freshman campaign, Verdirosi becomes the first member of the Indian Hills Men's Soccer program to earn first-team All-American honors since Akean Shackleford was named to the squad in 2017. Verdirosi is just the fourth All-American for the Warriors, joining Shackleford who was a time-time recipient and goalkeeper Ross Dalton in 2017.

Verdirosi put together one of the most remarkable seasons in school history as the freshman attacker scored 19 goals on the year, the third-most in school history. Verdirosi tied for second among all NJCAA goal scorers while his 46 points on the year were tied for fourth-most in the nation.

The freshman's scoring prowess helped lead the Warriors to the 2022 NJCAA Region XI title, just the second in school history while earning a spot in the NJCAA Midwest District Semifinals. The Warriors appeared multiple times in the national rankings and finished the year with a 12-9-1 overall record.

In one of the premiere regions in the nation, Verdirosi led all Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) players in goals, points, and shots. In his rookie campaign, Verdirosi scored 15 more points than the next highest point total in the conference. In eight league matches, Verdirosi scored eight goals and totaled 18 points.

Verdirosi tallied at lest one point in 17 of the team's 22 matches on the year, including seven matches with at least three points in a single game. The freshman tallied six points in postseason play, including a goal and an assist in the NJCAA Region XI Championship game, a 2-0 victory over No. 2 nationally ranked Iowa Western Community College.

Along with the All-American honors, Verdirosi was previously named the NJCAA Region XI Player of the Year, a member of the NJCAA All-Region XI First-Team, a member of the NJCAA Region XI All-Tournament Team and Offensive Player of the Tournament, and a two-time ICCAC Athlete of the Week.

Verdirosi was one of just three individuals from the ICCAC to earn All-American honors, joining Iowa Western's Luka Nedic and Jesus De Vicente.
