HORNSBY LANDS ICCAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Khalid Hornsby (Greenbelt, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt) broke free in the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field team's season-opener on Saturday and has been named this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week.

Hornsby made waves at the Washburn University Alumni Invitational in Topeka, KS on Saturday as the sophomore sprinter brought home first-place finishes in two separate events. Hornsby set a meet record and a new personal best with a blistering time of 6.78 in the men's 60-meter dash after posting the top qualifying mark in the prelims with a time of 6.85.

Hornsby placed first overall in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 21.47, finishing .14 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher to set a new personal best time.

Both marks qualified Hornsby for the 2023 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Indoor Track & Field National Championship in March.

Hornsby and the Warriors return to competition Saturday at the Iowa State Holiday Invitational in Ames, IA.
