CHATMAN NAMED ICCAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Woyn Chatman (Little Rock, AR/Little Rock Central) produced a career day at the Wendy's Pitt State Invitational on Saturday to earn Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week honors for the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field squad.

Chatman competed in a pair of events at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, KS and came home with two personal best marks.

In the men's 400-meter dash, Chatman entered the day on Saturday with the second-best mark in school history, but upped his performance in a competitive field against four year competition. Chatman posted a time of 47.27 to place second overall for the Warriors. The mark was 0.14 seconds better than his previous mark. Chatman's time is second only to former Indian Hills National Champion Kenny Bednarek.

Chatman recorded a second personal best in the men's 200-meter dash as the sophomore standout finished with a time of 21.63 to place sixth overall for the Warriors. Chatman cut .22 seconds off his time in the event from a week ago at the Cyclone Open.

Both marks for Chatman are national qualifying times that gives the sophomore a bid to the 2023 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Indoor National Championship March 3-4 at Washburn University in Topeka, KS.

Chatman becomes the third different Warrior to earn ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors this year.

Next up for the Warriors is the Iowa State Classic in Ames, IA on February 3-4.
