FOLSON NAMED USTFCCCA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Traunard Folson (Jacksonville, FL/Andrew Jackson) opened up the 2023 indoor season for the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field squad with a record-breaking performance to land United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Athlete of the Week honors.

Folson garners the national weekly accolade after setting a new school record in the men's 60-meter dash in the team's season opener at the Washburn Alumni Invitational in Topeka, KS on Saturday. Folson's time of 6.63 set not only an Indian Hills school record, but broke the meet record while tying the 16th-fastest time in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) history.

Along with Folson's performance in the 60m dash, the sophomore also qualified for the NJCAA national championship in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.25, setting a new meet record while posting the third-fastest time in school history for the Warriors.

Folson's efforts at the Washburn Invite helped the Warriors earn first-place among the 14-team field comprised primarily of NCAA four-year institutions.

Next up for the Warriors is the Iowa State Holiday Invitational in Ames, IA December 8-9.
