VENSON NAMED ICCAC TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – A record-breaking weekend led to Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for sophomore Keveroy Venson (Linstead, Jamaica/Calabar) of the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field team.

Venson continued his unprecedented start to the indoor season with a new school record in the men's mile, breaking the previous mark by eight seconds with a time of 4:05.87. Venson's mark is currently the leading time in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) this year and ranks 10th all-time in NJCAA history. Competing at the Cyclone Open at Iowa State University on Friday, Venson placed second overall in his heat.

Venson also posted a personal-best mark in the men's 800-meter run at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City on Saturday. The sophomore produced a time of 1:53.76 which currently ranks fifth in the NJCAA this year in all-conditions marks and was good enough for eighth overall at the meet comprised of primarily four-year institutions.

Venson is this first Indian Hills Men's Track & Field athlete this year to garner ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors.

Venson and the Warriors return to the track January 27 at the Wendy's Putt State Invitational in Pittsburg, KS.
