BROWN SPRINTS TO ICCAC WEEKLY HONOR

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Stephen Brown (Pontiac, MI/Lake Orion) of the No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Track & Field team collected Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week honors after an impressive showing at the Iowa State Classic on Saturday.

Competing in a pair of sprint events for the Warriors, Brown becomes the third different individual for the Warriors to garner weekly accolades from the conference office, joining teammates Terrick Johnson (Memphis, TN/Whitehaven) and Keveroy Venson (Linstead, Jamaica/Calabar).

Brown produced his best showing of his collegiate career in Ames over the weekend after a first-place finish in the 60-meter dash. In the prelims, Brown dashed to a personal best mark of 6.78 before blazing past the championship field as the only junior college participant with a time of 6.72, the sixth-best mark in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) this year.

Brown followed up with a strong fourth-place showing in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.57, another personal best mark for the sophomore.

The Warriors will now gear up for a pair of events this weekend with the 9th Annual Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, KS and the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka, KS.
