WARRIORS HOLD STRONG ATOP NATIONAL POLL

USTFCCCA NATIONAL RANKINGS - WEEK 3  |  USTFCCCA EVENT SQUAD RANKINGS

Ottumwa, IA – For the third consecutive week, the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field team held strong at No. 1 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings, announced Wednesday afternoon.

The Warriors, who claimed the program's first-ever No. 1 national rank on January 24, have now posted three consecutive showings atop the poll, checking in this week with 422.86 points to place ahead of second-ranked Iowa Western Community College. New Mexico Junior College, South Plains College (TX), and Barton Community College (KS) round out this week's top five.

Indian Hills put together another impressive showing this past weekend at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, IA to hold on to its spot at No. 1. Highlighted by three first-place finishes, including top honors in the 60-meter dash by this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week Stephen Brown (Pontiac, MI/Lake Orion), Indian Hills saw 14 top-10 marks at the Leid Rec Center on the Iowa State University campus.

The Warriors maintained its top spot in the national rankings this week to go along with four individual national event leaders in Tyrice Taylor (Linstead, Jamaica/Vere Technical) in the 600-meter and 800-meter runs, Keveroy Venson (Linstead, Jamaica/Calabar) in the 1,000-meter run, and Triston Miller (Columbus Junction, IA/Columbus Junction) in the 60-meter hurdles. In the most recent national Event Squad rankings, the Warriors are the No. 1 ranked 600m and 800m team in the nation and rank No. 2 in the 1,000m, 200m, 400m, 60mH, and No. 4 in the 60m.

In total, the Warriors currently boast 16 top-five national marks and 27 top-10 marks.

The Warriors take their No. 1 national ranking into a pair of events this weekend to close out regular season indoor action. Indian Hills will head to the 9th Annual Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, KS and the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka, KS, both two-day events.
