WARRIORS SET FOR ICCAC, SCTP CHAMPIONSHIPS

Waukee, IA – The Indian Hills Sports Shooting squad will head to the New Pioneer Gun Club for the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) Collegiate State Championship this weekend. The two-day event gets underway at 10:00 AM Saturday morning.

DETAILS: SCTP Collegiate State Championship

Saturday, November 12  |  10:00 AM (trap), 1:00 PM (sporting clays)

Sunday, November 13  |  10:30 AM (skeet), 1:00 PM (super sporting)

In its sixth season of competition, the Warriors will look to compete for a state title as 10 members from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) will square off along with four additional SCTP programs. The weekend event combines both the SCTP State Championship and ICCAC Championship into one full shoot.

"We are all definitely looking forward to the state shoot this weekend," stated head coach Jake Stalzer. "It will be great to have all of the junior colleges in the same spot and having some good competition seeing as we were unable to shoot against any western division teams this fall.  We are excited that it is a multi-discipline event where our trap, skeet, and sporting clays scores will be combined for a high overall score."

"We will have to have a little more depth than we've been having to this fall in league shoots.  We are going to have to make up a little ground from our average trap scores, and I believe we can do that with the skeet and sporting portion."

The Warriors head into the weekend after averaging the third-highest skeet score throughout the year with an average mark of 270/300. Indian Hills ranked seventh in trap with an average score of 441/500 on the year.

"We will be looking to a few of our key sophomores to lead our team this weekend," Stalzer added. "Nathan Dunsbergen, Landon Hubble, and  Camme Barber have been well-rounded shooters in all disciplines this year. Drennen Eddy came on strong our past couple of trap shoots along with Seth Schumacher. The team was looking good this week at practice in both trap and skeet, and I appreciate specifically Johnny Guiter and Alex Shelton for being willing to travel down to Centerville to practice skeet this entire fall. Their dedication and hard work has been phenomenal and I'm sure it will pay off for them this weekend."
