TRAPHOUSE NOTES

The Warriors are set to open the new year with a revamped roster of incoming freshman mixed with veteran leadership under Stalzer.

  • Indian Hills returns two experienced shooters from a year ago in Alex Shelton and Chase Ujlenhake.
  • Stalzer's roster features a total of 19 shooters comprised of 17 freshmen.
  • This year's incoming class features four females on the roster in Emma Bradley, Emily Butler, Haley Byrge, and Scarlet Meyer.
  • The Warriors are coming off a third-place finish at the 2023 ACUI/SCTP Collegiate Clay Target Championships in San Antonio, TX last year.

VETERAN EXPERIENCE

Both Shelton and Ujlenhake competed at last year's national championships in San Antonio. Shelton competed in a total of 12 events throughout the duration of the year last year while Ujlenhake, the Warriors' 'Hype Man' competed in seven.

"We will look to Alex and Chase as our pair of returners for leadership and guidance," Stalzer stated. "For Alex never having participated in competitive shooting sports before college, he really caught on last year and fired a best 95/100 at the national tournament down in San Antonio this past spring. He also shot quite a bit of skeet and sporting clays last year, so I am excited to see what he can do for us this fall."

FRESHMAN PRAISE

Stalzer noted the exceptional talent of this year's incoming class and the impact he looks for the newcomers to make.

"This may be the most the excited I've been the past six years for an incoming class."

The Warriors bring in a number of individuals who excelled in their respective high school state tournaments last year, including Wisconsin Ladies Trap State Champion Haley Byrge. In total, eight individuals placed in their state tournaments, including Carson Abrams' seventh-place showing in the HOA Iowa State Tournament.

"Carson Abrams is one of the most well-rounded shooters in the state, but skeet and sporting clays is really where he will shine for us."

"Wyatt Bible is a tremendous trap shooter. He dabbled in skeet and sporting clays a bit last year because he knew he was going to have to get familiar with them for college – I'm excited to continue working with him perfecting his skeet/sporting game."

"Haley Byrge was last year's Wisconsin State Champ in trap for the ladies.  She's a great wingshooter and I'm confident those skills will transition over to the skeet range and sporting clays course."

"Aidan Eischen – awesome trap shooter. Similar to Wyatt, I let him know the collegiate landscape has turned to having to be a well-rounded shooter. Aidan started shooting skeet and sporting clays just this spring and has caught on very quickly. I expect him to be a team contributor week in and week out."
