WARRIORS RANKED NO. 15 IN FIRST POLL

Ottumwa, IA – Following the team's season-opening weekend in Oxford, AL, the Indian Hills Softball squad is ranked No. 15 in the first National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Softball Poll of the regular season. The Warriors are currently 2-2 on the year.

In a weekend that was scheduled for eight games in four days, the Warriors were only able to play four due to unfavorable weather in the south. The Warriors split on the opening day with a 3-2 win over Blinn College (TX) and a 12-3 loss to then-No. 20 San Jacinto College (TX). Indian Hills dropped a nine-inning affair to Northwest Florida State College 5-4) before wrapping up the weekend with an 11-3 win over Wabash Valley College (IL).

Northwest Florida State climbed in the national polls from unranked to No. 2 in the nation while San Jacinto jumped to No. 12 in the rankings. Grayson College (TX) headlines the first regular season poll at No. 1. The Warriors are the lone team from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) in the rankings.

Freshman Tatum Aragon (Fort Collins, CO/Fort Collins) led the offense for the Warriors over the weekend with a team-high .417 batting average while sophomore Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) drove in six runs. Ryann Cheek (Eldridge, IA/North Scott) posted a team-bets 0.95 earned run average with a win in 7.1 innings of relief work for the Warriors.

Indian Hills returns to action this Friday in Hillsboro, MO for a doubleheader against Jefferson College (MO). The Warriors will also travel to St. Charles, MO for a pair of games on Saturday against St. Charles Community College (MO) and Heartland Community College (IL).
