Originally scheduled for a Saturday/Sunday series, the two ICCAC opponents altered the schedule for a Friday start due to impending weather in the Council Bluffs area.

LEADING OFF

  • Indian Hills enters the weekend series with an 8-6 overall record on the year following a split at Johnson County Community College (KS) on March 15.
  • Untimely weather has forced a number of cancellations and postponements for the Warriors this year as all 13 games have been played on the road or at neutral sites.

  • Destiny Lewis (Indianola, IA/Indianola) has carried her All-American effort from a year ago into 2023 as the sophomore leads the Warriors in five offensive categories on the year. Lewis recently eclipsed the 100-hit, 100-run, 100-RBI, 30-home run milestone for her career.
  • Jenna Lemley's (Troy Mills, IA/North Linn) freshman campaign has gotten off to a strong start with a team-high .412 batting average. Lemley owns five extra base hits and 11 RBI on the year.
  • Julia Kwakernaak (The Hague, Netherlands/Segbroek College) has hit safely in six of the last seven games to up her batting average to .389 in her freshman season as a Warrior.
  • Ryann Cheek (Eldridge, IA/North Scott) has produced a solid presence out of the bullpen with a team-best 1.34 ERA and a pair of wins in 15.2 innings of work this year.
  • Sophomore Madie Anderson (Mt. Pleasant, IA/Winfield Mt. Union) leads the Warriors with 25 strikeouts in the circle in 2023.

SCOUTING THE REIVERS

The Warriors' strongest conference foe in recent years, Iowa Western enters the matchup with an 11-5 record on the year and will be making its ICCAC opener along with Indian Hills on Friday.

  • Iowa Western has won eight of its last 10 contests, including a split with Johnson County on March 22.
  • The Reivers have played against four common opponents as the Warriors, going 4-2 in those matchups.
  • Iowa Western is averaging 7.8 runs per contest this year and have gone for double-digits six times.

Indian Hills has claimed the Reivers' number in recent years, owning a 17-5 record over the previous four seasons, including a 5-1 record in each of the last two seasons. Dating back to the 2011 season, a span of 62 games, the teams have split the series evenly with 31 wins apiece.

  • After dropping the series-opener to Iowa Western last year, the Warriors battled back to win five straight on its way to the NJCAA Region XI title.
