LEWIS, ANDERSON EARN WEEKLY HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – Following a four-game conference sweep, the Indian Hills Softball squad landed two weekly honors from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). Sophomores Destiny Lewis (Indianola, IA/Indianola) and Madie Anderson (Mt. Pleasant, IA/Winfield Mt. Union) swept the ICCAC Athletes of the Week awards.

Lewis and Anderson helped lead the Warriors to four wins against conference foe Iowa Western Community College over the weekend. The Warriors also earned a non-conference doubleheader split with Johnson County Community College (KS) on Monday. The sophomore tandem has now earned four weekly ICCAC honors each throughout their Indian Hills careers.

Lewis, a first-team All-American from a season ago, powered the offense with at least one hit in each of the six contests. Lewis boasted a .524 (11-21) batting average on the week along with six extra base hits, including three home runs. Lewis added 13 RBI and nine runs scored on the week.

Lewis' top performances came in a 13-5 win over Johnson County on Monday where the infielder went 3-5 with five RBI and a pair of runs. The sophomore added a 2-2 performance with two home runs and five RBI in a 17-3 win in game three vs. Iowa Western.

On the year, Lewis is batting .426 with six home runs and 23 RBI.

Anderson posted a 2-0 record in the circle for the Warriors in three appearances highlighted by the sophomore's first-career no-hitter. Anderson picked up two wins against Iowa Western and earned a no decision against Johnson County.

Anderson allowed just one unearned run in 4.1 innings against Johnson County before the Cavaliers rallied late to pick up the non-league win. Anderson collected four strikeouts in the no decision.

In the series opener against Iowa Western on Saturday, Anderson twirled a gem with a complete game no-hitter to blank the Reivers 7-0 on the road. Anderson allowed just three baserunners and struck out five batters in the masterpiece.

Anderson followed up on Sunday with another dominant effort in the circle against the Reivers. Anderson allowed just one earned run in four innings of work as the Warriors defeated Iowa Western 17-3. The sophomore scattered three hits and struck out three batters.

In four career starts against the Reivers, Anderson is now 4-0 with a 1.45 earned run average and 28 strikeouts. On the year, Anderson is 4-2 with a 1.56 earned run average and 33 strikeouts.

The Warriors are back in action Thursday afternoon at North Central Missouri College for a non-league doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
