Ottumwa, IA – For the second time this season, freshman Ashlynn Sheets (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) of the Indian Hills Softball team has earned Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Softball Pitcher of the Week honors.

The freshman starred in the circle for the Warriors against some of its toughest competition of the year last week. Sheets took on a pair of top-20 nationally ranked squads along with a surging non-conference opponent to help the Warriors boost its resume. As a team, the Warriors have now collected five ICCAC Pitcher of the Week honors.

Sheets was stellar in the circle on the road against No. 18 nationally ranked Butler Community College (KS) on Monday, a team that made an appearance at last year's World Series. Sheets worked into extra innings as the Warriors eventually fell short, but the southpaw kept the team in contention. Sheets finished with a career-high 12 strikeouts in the 4-2 loss and did not issue a walk in 7.2 innings of work.

Sheets followed up with a victory over No. 20 nationally ranked Seminole State College (OK) to help the Warriors secure its third win over a top-20 team this season. The freshman followed up the very next day against Connors State College (OK) on Sunday with another dominant effort, striking out 11 batters in a 5-2 win for the Warriors. Sheets scattered six hits and issued just one walk in the victory.

On the year, Sheets is now 7-4, having won three consecutive contests, with a team-best 2.02 earned run average. The freshman also leads the Warriors with 63 strikeouts in 14 appearances this season.

The Warriors' homestand is set to continue Thursday afternoon with a twinbill against North Iowa Area Community College at 2:00 PM.
