NO. 9 WARRIORS UPSET NO. 2 REIVERS

Council Bluffs, IA – No. 9 Indian Hills Men's Wrestling scored its biggest dual victory of the year on Friday as the Warriors defeated No. 2 nationally ranked Iowa Western Community College 28-18 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) action. The Warriors remain undefeated in league duals this year at 4-0.

In a matchup of the last two undefeated ICCAC squads and two top-10 programs, the Warriors secured six victories to upset the Reivers. Indian Hills jumped out to an 11-0 lead through the first two bouts and never looked back. The Warriors used a pin, two tech falls, and three major decisions to take a 2-1 all-time series lead over the Reivers.

No. 3 nationally ranked Riley Bettich (Stevensille, MI/Crown Point) dominated the opening match at 125lbs as the freshman scored a 19-1 tech fall over Ricardo Juarez. At 133lbs, sophomore Manuel Limon (Rock Island, IL/Rock Island) earned a pin in the second round over the No. 10 nationally ranked wrestler in Paul Ruff.

In a matchup of two nationally ranked individuals, No. 4 Matthew Lewis (Centerville, IA/Centerville) suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to No. 6 Malachi Bordovsky as the Reivers scored their first points at 141lbs.

The two sides traded bouts over the final seven matchups as Indian Hills took victories at 149lbs, 165lbs, 184lbs, and 285lbs.

Sophomore Nevertesonne Lahens (Immokalee, FL/Immokalee) picked up his first ICCAC dual victory of the year with a dominant 15-3 major at 149lbs. No. 10 Weston Milnes-Bowers (Chandler, AZ/Valiant College Prep) earned a 15-6 major at 165lbs while Cade Linn (Elysburg, PA/Southern Columbia Area) earned a 16-4 major at 184lbs. No. 3 nationally ranked Kawaun Deboe (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) rolled to a 15-0 tech fall in the final match of the day in the heavyweight division to put the cap on the Reivers.

The Warriors will send a series of individuals to the Worthington Open in Worthington, MN on Saturday before returning home for the team's final ICCAC dual against Iowa Central Community College on Wednesday night.
