WARRIORS BATTLE WITH NO. 11 TRITONS

Fort Dodge, IA – The No. 19 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Wrestling squad battled with No. 11 Iowa Central Community College Wednesday night, falling just short to the Tritons 25-21 despite a furious comeback. The Warriors fall to 1-2 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) action.

The Warriors took the final four matches of the night at 174lbs, 184lbs, 197lbs, and 285lbs, finishing off the Tritons with three consecutive pins to close out the night. Indian Hills tallied 21 team points over the final four matches, but the early deficit proved too costly.

Indian Hills fell behind 25-0 through the first six matches despite a series of narrow decisions. Isaac Gibbs (Prosper, TX/Rock Hill) dropped a close 10-7 match at 125lbs while Justin Bradford (Murfreesboro, TN/Blackman) fell 7-4 at 133lbs in his first conference dual of the season. In his first action of 2023, Ayden Kingery (Altoona, IA/Southeast Polk) battled at 165lbs, but fell just short, 11-8.

Freshman Jaquan East (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) opened the scoring for the Warriors with an impressive victory over No. 7 nationally ranked Lawrence Rosario at 174lbs. East scored a 7-2 decision to put Indian Hills on the board. East moves to 4-0 on the year in dual action, including a 3-0 mark in league action.

Darion Thompson (Cleveland, OH/Cleveland Heights) followed up at 184lbs for the Warriors with a fall in 2:05 to secure his first ICCAC dual win of the year. Thompson is now 2-0 on the year in dual action.

Freshman Ansel Cervantes (Miami, FL/South Dade) gave Indian Hills its second consecutive pin at 197lbs. Cervantes scored a second round fall to score six team points for the Warriors. Cervantes improved to 3-1 in duals on the year for the Warriors.

In his second ICCAC dual action of the year, freshman Noah Iobe (Mendon, MI/Mendon) capped the night with an impressive pin over Joseph Sanders. Iobe has now secured two pins in each of his two ICCAC duals on the year to remain unbeaten.

The Warriors now head to the Doane Open at the Haddix Center in Crete, NE on December 2.
