WARRIORS TIE NO. 16 BUCKS AT IHCC CLASSIC

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Women's Soccer team picked up its second consecutive result on the final day of the IHCC Classic as the Warriors held No. 16 Motlow State Community College (TN) to a 0-0 draw on Sunday. The Warriors move to 0-0-2 to start the season.

The two sides, meeting for the third consecutive year, played 90 minutes of scoreless action despite multiple chances on each end of the pitch. The Warriors outshot the Bucks, ranked No. 16 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Women's Soccer poll, 12-9 and held a 6-5 shots on goal advantage.  

Freshman keeper María Melendez (Aragua, Venezuela/Aragua Estudiantil) picked up her first collegiate shutout with a season-high five saves, including three in the second half.

Freshman Gabi Camargo (Bogotá, Colombia/Colegio Justo Victor Charry), the team's lone goal scorer in Saturday's draw with No. 19 Illinois Central College, tallied two shots on goal on Sunday while Sage Prince (Pickering, Ontario/St. Mary's Catholic Secondary) totaled three shots in the match.

Sunday's result gave the Warriors a pair of ties at the IHCC Classic, holding two nationally ranked opponents to just one penalty kick goal over 180 minutes of action.

Indian Hills, ranked No. 15 in the United Soccer Coaches poll, makes its first road trip of the year on August 25 for a date with Johnson County College (KS) in Overland Park, KS at 5:00 PM. The Warriors will follow up with a road match at Jefferson College (MO) in Hillsboro, MO on August 27.
