MELENDEZ NAMED ICCAC KEEPER OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – Freshman keeper María Melendez of the Indian Hills Women's Soccer team has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Women's Soccer Goalie of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Melendez helped guide the Warriors to a win and a pair of ties to start the season. Indian Hills picked up a draw against two nationally ranked opponents – No. 19 Illinois Central Community College and No. 16 Motlow State Community College (TN) before earning a victory on the road at Jefferson College (MO).

Melendez, who played in all 360:00 of action through the opening two weeks of play, has tallied 26 saves on the season, including a personal best 15 stops in a road loss to Johnson County Community College. Melendez also tallied five saves against Motlow State and five more vs. Jefferson.

Melendez's 26 saves currently rank fourth in the latest NJCAA DI Women's Soccer leaderboard.

The Warriors return to action at 1:00 PM Wednesday afternoon at home vs. Western Iowa Tech Community College.
