PRINCE SCORES TWICE TO LEAD WARRIORS

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Sage Prince (Pickering, Ontario/St. Mary's Catholic Secondary) tallied two first half goals to lead the Indian Hills Women's Soccer team to a 3-1 victory at home over North Iowa Area Community College on Monday afternoon. The win moves the Warriors to 5-4-2 on the year.

Sage extended her team lead to six goals on the year with two first half strikes. The sophomore now has a team-high 13 points on the year, good enough for fifth in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

Along with Prince's two scores, Kenya Lee (Cassapolis, MI/Dowagiac) netted a second half goal, the sophomore's second tally of the year.

Prior to Monday's match, nine sophomores were recognized as part of the program's final regular season home game – Sara Cogoli (Erbusco, Italy/IIS Luigi Einaudi), Shay Polson (Johnston, IA/Johnston), Kenya Lee (Cassapolis, MI/Dowagiac), Milena Leon (Quito, Ecuador/British International School of Houston), Marina Flores (Des Moines, IA/Scavo), Talia Stacy (Murrieta, CA/Great Oak), Stephani Alves Talon (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Alternative College), Leila Karam (Cowansville, Quebec/Cure'-Antoine Labelle), and Sage Prince (Pickering, Ontario/St. Mary's Catholic Secondary).

As a team, the Warriors outshot the Trojans 17-4, including a 6-2 edge on shots on goal. The Warriors earned nine corner kicks to NIACC's one corner on the day.

Cogoli was credited with the victory, the sophomore's 10th career win which now ranks sixth-most in school history. Cogoli was credited with one save while lowering her career goals against average to 1.47 over the past two seasons.

Prince put the Warriors on the board in the 11th minute with a strike from 30 yards out after beating a series of defenders for the game's initial score. The sophomore found the back of the net once again at the 29:52 mark following a low through ball to the top of the box from Maika Nchana (Barcelona, Spain/INS Torras I Bages). Prince beat a defender at the top of the box before rifling a shot past the outstretched arms of the Trojan keeper to extend the lead.

The Warriors maintained its two-goal advantage until Lee found the back of the net in her final regular season match at Indian Hills. Stacy played a long pass from the opposite side of the midfield before Lee outran a pair of Trojan defenders. The sophomore slipped a shot into the corner to cap the scoring for the home team.

The Warriors improve to 7-0-0 all-time vs. NIACC.

Next up for Indian Hills is a trip to league foe Iowa Western Community College at 3:00 PM Wednesday afternoon.
