Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Jahzara Hart (Raleigh, NC/Southeast Raleigh) has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week after a breakout performance in her collegiate debut.
The Indian Hills Women's Track & Field team opened up the 2022 indoor season at the Washburn University Alumni Invitational on Saturday and Hart produced one of the most impressive performances in school history.
Competing in the women's 60-meter dash, Hart sprinted to a second-place finish and was the top overall junior college finisher with a time of 7.53, just 0.01 seconds off the Indian Hills school record in the event.
Hart also earned a fourth-place finish in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 25.19.
Along with Hart's national honor this week, teammate Rivaldo Marshall was named the USTFCCCA National Female Athlete of the Week.
