WARRIOR WOMEN RANKED NO. 6 IN USTFCCCA POLL

USTFCCCA NATIONAL RANKINGS - WEEK 1

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Women's Track & Field team's fast start to the 2023-24 season was rewarded with the No. 6 spot in the first United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), announced Wednesday afternoon.

The Warriors tie their third-highest rank in school history behind the 2022 squad's No. 4 rank and the 2021 team's No. 5 rank. Indian Hills earned 169.00 team points in the first poll of 2024 and are currently ranked No. 2 in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region rankings behind only Iowa Western Community College, ranked No. 3 in the nation.

Indian Hills currently boasts a pair of top marks in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) behind sophomore Oarabile Tshosa's (Gaborone, Botswana/Good Hope) national-leading 60-meter dash time of 7.41 while freshman Dymonde Nave (Sioux Falls, SD/Sioux Falls Lincoln) ranks first in the nation with a time of 8.79 in the 60-meter hurdles. Oarabile, the two-time national athlete of the week this year, also ranks second nationally with an all-conditions mark of 24.00 in the 200-meter dash, also a school record.

Freshman Arriana Johnson (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt) has led the Warriors in the pentathlon with a school-record mark of 2,823, currently the fifth-best mark in the NJCAA this year. Indian Hills' 4x400-meter relay squad of Laurie Louis (Miami, FL/North Miami), Nyla Norman (Evansdale, IA/Waterloo East), Shanice Cox (Minneapolis, MN/Minneapolis South), and Kenyatta Grate also own the second-fastest event time in the nation after a dominant performance at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City, IA.

New Mexico Junior College took the top spot in the poll followed by Barton Community College (KS), Cloud County Community College (KS), and Mesa Community College (AZ).

Indian Hills returns to action January 27 at the Wendy's Pitt State Invitational in Pittsburg, KS.
