WARRIOR FANS RETURN TO HELLYER

Ottumwa, IA – The long-awaited return to the Hellyer Student Life Center has arrived for Indian Hills sports teams as the Warrior volleyball program hosts its home opener Tuesday night. Indian Hills will host DMACC at 6:00 PM.

It's been 542 days since Warrior Nation has stepped foot inside the Hellyer Center to cheer on their student-athletes, but 671 days since the volleyball team's last home match in front of its loyal crowd. The Indian Hills basketball team last hosted a contest on Feb. 29, 2020 while the volleyball team's last home match was Oct. 23, 2019.

"It's been a long time coming, but we're excited to finally have our fans back in the historic Hellyer Center," stated Brett Monaghan, Indian Hills Vice President, Student Development & Operations and Athletic Director. "We look forward to a great atmosphere for our student-athletes throughout the year, something they all deserve after the challenges of last season."

The Warriors are coming off a 3-1 opening weekend at the Reiver Classic in Council Bluffs, IA. Indian Hills knocked off a pair of ranked opponents in Northeastern Junior College (CO) and Western Nebraska Community College before winning its third match vs. Jefferson College (MO).

Precious Daley (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt) and Brooke Amann (Woodstock, IL/South Dakota State) powered the offense over the weekend with 40 kills apiece. Daley and Haleigh Hadley (Gilbert, IA/Iowa State) were key blocking factors at the net while Anja Vranic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sports Gymnasium) and Hennsys Lalane (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Colegio Luis Munox Rivera) controlled the tempo on both sides of the ball.

The Warriors have won seven of the last 10 meetings with DMACC. The Bears enter tonight's match with a 4-0 record.

Tonight's match is open to the public while the Hellyer Center is a mask-friendly facility. Tickets are on sale for $5.00 while Indian Hills students, faculty, and staff receive free admission.
