SASHA VIDAL NAMED NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – Sasha Vidal of the No. 4 Indian Hills Volleyball team has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Warriors to a perfect 6-0 week on the court.

The freshman libero has anchored the Warrior defense throughout the early portion of the season, leading Indian Hills to a 14-1 overall record and a current No. 4 rank in the latest NJCAA national polls. Vidal currently leads the nation with 321 total digs on the year.

Last week, the freshman specialist led the Warriors to six consecutive sweeps while appearing in all 18 sets for head coach Lyndsey Michel's squad. Vidal posted double-digit dig totals in each of the six matches, including a weekly high of 23 against Highland Community College (IL) at the Jimmy John's Tournament in Burlington, IA.

Vidal totaled 102 digs on the week while also collecting six service aces in the undefeated week. Vidal has posted double-digit dig totals in all 15 matches this season, including 10 matches with at least 20 digs.

Next up for the Warriors is the Sheila Worley Tournament in Sterling, CO this weekend where Indian Hills will take on four opponents, including three nationally ranked matchups. Action gets underway Friday vs. No. 5 Western Nebraska Community College and No. 19 Northeastern Junior College (CO).
