LALANE, VIDAL ADD MORE INDIVIDUAL HONORS

Sterling, CO – Following a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Sheila Worley Invitational, a pair of Indian Hills Volleyball student-athletes walked away with individual accolades.

Sophomore Hennesys Lalane (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Colegio Luis Munox Rivera) was named MVP of the Tournament while freshman Sasha Vidal (Asunción, Paraguay / Trinity School) was selected as the Libero of the Tournament. The duo helped the Warriors knock off three nationally ranked opponents, including a 3-0 sweep of No. 17 Hutchinson Community College (KS) and a five-set victory over No. 5 Western Nebraska Community College.

Lalane, the Warriors' primary setter, continued her impressive start to the year with MVP honors for Indian Hills. In four matches at the Sheila Worley Invitational, Lalane tallied 166 assists, including a tournament-high 48 in the victory over No. 5 Western Nebraska. Lalane also tallied 19 kills while committing just four hitting errors. Lalane posted a career-high eight service aces in a 3-2 win over No. 19 Northeatern Junior College (CO) on Friday.

Lalane, who was selected as the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week last week, currently leads the nation with 698 assists this season and ranks sixth nationally with 10.26 assists per set. Lalane is also third in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) with 40 service aces this year.

On the defensive front, Vidal earned Libero of the Tournament honors after powering the Warriors to the four victories. Vidal tallied 89 digs over the weekend and averaged 5.2 digs per set along the way while playing in all 17 sets. Vidal has played in all 70 sets for the Warriors this season.

Vidal entered the Sheila Worley Invitational as the NJCAA's National Player of the Week and the ICCAC's Defensive Player of the Week to continue the strong start to her freshman campaign. Vidal currently leads the nation with 410 digs this season.

The Warriors are back in action this Wednesday night in the team's ICCAC opener against two-time defending national champion Iowa Western Community College, set for 7:00 PM at the Hellyer Center.
