WARRIORS EARN HIGHEST RANK IN PROGRAM HISTORY

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Volleyball team earned its highest national rank in school history on Monday as the Warriors checked in at No. 2 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball Poll.

Winners of 11 in a row, including a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Sheila Worley Invitational in Sterling, CO, the Warriors jumped two spots for its highest ranking in school history. The Warriors' previous best mark came in 2015 when the team was ranked No. 3 in the nation.

Indian Hills has now climbed in each of the three regular season national rankings this year after coming in at No. 6 in the week one poll followed by the fourth-place spot last week. Indian Hills earned 133 points in the voting conducted by NJCAA DI Volleyball Committee, coming in just behind No. 1 and unbeaten Florida SouthWestern State College.

The Warriors' latest triumphs saw four victories in Colorado over the weekend, including three against nationally ranked opponents. Indian Hills was led by tournament MVP Hennesys Lalane (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Colegio Luis Munox Rivera) and Libero of the Tournament Sasha Vidal (Asunción, Paraguay/Trinity School).

Along with the team's national ranking, the Warriors also lead the country in solo blocks (94), block assists (262), and total blocks (225), as well as total assists (791). The team also ranks in the top-10 in 11 additional statistical categories this year. The Warriors also hold spots in the top-10 in nine individual categories, including Lalalen's nation-leading 698 assists. Jarolin de los Santos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Luis Munoz Rivera) ranks first nationally with 27 solo blocks followed by Erica Calderon Rosario's (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Salome Urena de Henriquez) 22 solo stops, second most in the country. Vidal ranks second in the in NJCAA with 410 digs.

Indian Hills is now set to host two-time defending national champion Iowa Western Community College at 7:00 PM Wednesday night in an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) showdown at the Hellyer Center. The Reivers (7-6) are receiving votes in this week's poll.
