LALANE GARNERS NATIONAL HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Hennesys Lalane (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Colegio Luis Munox Rivera) has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Lalane recently eclipsed a major milestone while leading the Warriors to a pair of wins last week.

The sophomore setter surpassed the 1,000 assist mark for the second time in her career after totaling 127 assists in three matches last week. The Warriors, ranked No. 3 in the latest NJCAA DI Volleyball poll, posted a 2-1 record last week to improve to 28-2 on the year.

Lalane totaled 48 assists in a narrow 3-2 loss to No. 18 Missouri State University-West Plains at the annual Iowa-Missouri Challenge. Lalane also posted a season-high 21 digs for the sophomore's fourth double-double of the season.

Lalane and the Warriors bounced back on Saturday to defeat No. 16 Mineral Area College (MO) 3-1 while the setter doled out 49 assists. It marked the 12th time this season Lalane registered at least 40 sets in a single match. Lalane added 13 more digs in the win.

The sophomore finished up the weekend in Hillsboro, MO with 30 more assists in a 3-0 victory over Jefferson College (MO) to break the 1,000 assist plateau.

Lalane currently leads the nation with 1,111 assists on the year while her 10.29 assists/set rank sixth nationally.

Indian Hills returns to action Friday at the Kirkwood Triangular where the Warriors will take on Parkland College (IL) at 3:00 PM followed by a match with Kirkwood Community College at 5:00 PM.
