WARRIORS SWEEP TIGERS ON SOPHOMORE NIGHT

Ottumwa, IA – No. 2 Indian Hills Volleyball swept through Marshalltown Community College to close out the regular season in dominant fashion. The Warriors took all three sets at the Hellyer Center on a night where nine sophomores played in their final home match.

The Warriors took the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) match against the Tigers in straight sets – 25-12, 25-15, and 25-14 to finish its conference schedule with a 4-0 record for the first time in program history. The Warriors claimed the regular season title and the top seed in the upcoming National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball Midwest District Tournament.

The victory gave Indian Hills its 38th victory of the year, the program's most wins since 2004 when the team went 41-3 and reached the national tournament. The Warriors have won more than 38 games just one other time in the 27 years of existence – a school-record 44 wins in 2002.

15 different Warriors saw action on Wednesday night as the home team rolled to its 12th straight win. Sophomore Hennesys Lalane (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Colegio Luis Munox Rivera) led the Warriors with 24 assists and three service aces to tie the career record for most service aces in school history with 173. Lalane is also the current single season school record holder with 96 service aces this year.

Sasha Viadal (Asunción, Paraguay / Trinity School) added 15 digs in the victory while sophomores Haleigh Hadley (Gilbert, IA/Gilbert) and Jarolin de los Santos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Luis Munoz Rivera) each totaled four blocks.

The Warriors now wait for matchup information for the upcoming district tournament. Indian Hills will enter the eight-team tournament as the Midwest A representative and will play the third-place finisher from Region 24 (IL). Action gets underway Friday, November 4 and will be hosted by the Region 24 winner.

Wednesday's match was the final home match for nine sophomores: Lisa Bonnefoy, Izabela Zukowski, Josi Schachle, Esra Akcay, Haleigh Hadley, Erica Calderon Rosario, Jenna Vallée, Jarolin de los Santos, and Henesys Lalane.
