WARRIORS EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO NINE

Ottumwa, IA – No. 14 Indian Hills Volleyball rolled to a 3-0 sweep of Hawkeye Community College on Monday night at the Hellyer Center to extend the team's season-long win streak to nine matches on the year. The Warriors improve to 17-6 overall this season with the team's 13th sweep of 2023.

The Warriors used an efficient offensive attack at the Hellyer Center to run past the Redtails for the team's sixth sweep during the nine-match win streak. Indian Hills ran away with the first set 25-12 before holding off the Hawkeye 25-23 in the second set. A late surge powered the Warriors in the third and final set, 25-11.

Freshman Sara Van Gisteren (Leuth, Netherlands/Young Talent Academy ROC Nijmegen) led the charge on offense for the Warriors with 20 kills on the night, the outside hitter's second match with at least 20 kills on the year. The Warriors produced a .545 hitting percentage in the opening frame before closing out the night with a .414 clip in the third set. The Warriors posted a team hitting percentage of .367, the program's third consecutive match reaching that mark.

Van Gisteren flourished on the court for the Warriors with a season-high .654 hitting percentage on 26 attempts. The freshman also added 10 digs for her second consecutive double-double and fourth of the year. Van Gisteren also tallied a career-high four service aces, including three straight solo finishers in the third set.

Kinga Michalska (Szówsko, Poland/ZSSCHiO) chipped in with 11 kills on 22 attempts for the sophomore's ninth consecutive double-digit kill effort. Michalska now ranks sixth nationally with 282 kills this season.

Ana Carolina Westerich (Blumenau, Brazil/Colégio Energia) added three service aces while managing the offense with 37 assists. Westerich now ranks sixth in the nation with 10.26 assists/set and seventh nationally with 677 total assists on the year.

Sabrina Nogueira Da Silva (São Paulo, Brazil/Colégio Campos Salles) led the defense with 13 digs on the night.

2023 marks the fifth consecutive season the Warriors have produced a win streak of at least nine matches.

Indian Hills returns to action Friday night at Jefferson College (MO) in Hillsboro, MO with first serve set for 5:00 PM.
