IZAR NAMED NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Fernanda Izar (Bauru, Brazil/Prevê Objetivo Bauru) of the Indian Hills Volleyball team has been named this week's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, announced Wednesday afternoon.

Izar, who was also named this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, helped lead the No. 14 nationally ranked Warriors to a 4-0 weekend at the Blue Dragon Classic in Hutchinson, KS. The freshman currently leads the team with 61 total blocks on the year.

Izar totaled 12 blocks at the Blue Dragon Classic over the weekend, including a career-high six total blocks in a 3-0 win over District foe Mineral Area College (MO) on Saturday. Izar also added four blocks, including two solo stops against host Hutchinson Community College (KS) and a pair vs. Butler Community College (KS) to lead the Warrior blockers.

Izar currently ranks in the top-30 in the nation in total blocks and solo blocks. The freshman's 18 solo stops currently leads the ICCAC.

Next up for the Warriors is a date with Marshalltown Community College at the Hellyer Center on October 6.
