VAN GISTEREN, NOGUEIRA DA SILVA SWEEP ICCAC HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – The No. 14 Indian Hills Volleyball squad swept the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Volleyball Athlete of the Week awards for the second time this season as Sara Van Gisteren (Leuth, Netherlands/Young Talent Academy ROC Nijmegen) and Sabrina Nogueira Da Silva (São Paulo, Brazil/Colégio Campos Salles) garnered the weekly honors.

The freshman duo each collected their second-career ICCAC DI Volleyball Athlete of the Week award as Van Gisteren was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week and Nogueira Da Silva was tapped as the Defensive Player of the Week. The pair has helped the Warriors win nine consecutive matches and 12 of their last 13.

The Warriors were in action just once last week, a 3-0 sweep over Hawkeye Community College at the Hellyer Center, but both Van Gisteren and Nogueira Da Silva put together dominant performances to keep Indian Hills undefeated at home this year.

Van Gisteren tallied 20 kills in the win on just 26 attempts for a personal-best .654 hitting percentage. The outside hitter added 10 digs for her fourth double-double of the year. Van Gisteren has now tallied three matches with at least 20 kills this season.

Van Gisteren currently ranks 19th in the nation with 270 kills on the year while her .315 hitting percentage ranks 26th overall.

On the defensive front, Nogueira Da Silva continued to pace the Warriors with a team-high 13 digs vs. Hawkeye. The freshman has been instrumental in the Warriors' torrid stretch through the month of September, tallying double-digit dig totals in each of the team's last 10 matches and 18 of the last 19.

Nogueira Da Silva currently ranks 27th in the nation with 323 digs on the year.

As a team this year, the Warriors have now collected six ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors.

The Warriors, ranked 14th in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball polls, will host Marshalltown Community College at 6:00 PM Friday night at the Hellyer Center before heading to the DMACC Tournament in Boone, IA on Saturdya.
