Centerville, IA – Following the announcement of the No. 1 team national ranking for the Indian Hills Women's Wrestling program, 17 individuals were recognized in the first-ever National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women's Wrestling Individual Rankings.

In its first year of sanctioned wrestling at the NJCAA level, the Warriors placed 17 individuals throughout the 11 weight classes, including three No. 1 nationally ranked wrestlers in their respective class. Sophomore Kennedy Shropshire (Lawrenceville, GA/Mountain View), the defending Junior College National Championship (JCNC) 109lb champion is the top-ranked wrestler at 116lbs to open the year. Alondra Rosado Martinez (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio Amarlieen), last year's JCNC national champion at 136lbs checks in at No. 1 in the first regular season poll in the same weight class. Malachite Chunn (Jacksonville, NC/Jacksonville), the 109lb runner-up last season is ranked No. 1 in this year's 109lb class.

Sophomore Lynexa Adams (Willard, MO/Willard) checks in at No. 3 in the 155lb weight class and Liannette Ortiz (Kissimmee, FL/Gateway) is ranked No. 2 in the 123lb weight class while Malia Cook (Muscatine, IA/Muscatine) is No. 10 at 130lbs to round out the Warriors' returning nationally ranked individuals.

Head coach Cole Spree's talented freshman class and newcomers fills up the remaining spots for the Warriors. In a loaded 235lb weight class, the Warriors boast the second, third, and fourth ranked individuals, including No. 2 Eliana Bommarito (Brighton, MI/Hartland), the 225lb junior (18 and under) national champion in 2022.

Shammilka Miranda Diaz (Puerto Rico/Eugenio Guerra Cruz) is ranked No. 4 in the 116lb weight class and proved her spot in the team's season opening dual with a pin in 1:10 against NIACC on Tuesday night. Suravieve Robertson (Garner, AR/Beebe) is ranked No. 5 at 170lbs and picked up a convincing win on Tuesday with a pin in 1:27 vs. NIACC.

The Warriors (1-0, 1-0) earned the No. 1 team rank in the first-ever NJCAA national poll, announced on Wednesday. Indian Hills returns to action this weekend at the Waldorf Open in Forest City, IA.
