Centerville, IA – Sophomore Alondra Rosado Martinez (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio Amarlieen) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week after a dominant performance at the Avila Duals over the weekend.
The defending 136lb national champion and current No. 1 nationally ranked 143lb individual, Martinez posted a 4-0 record in the sophomore's first action of the season on Friday. Martinez helped lead the Warriors to a 2-1-1 overall record in four matchups against nationally ranked NAIA opponents in Kansas City, MO.
In Martinez's first dual of the year, the sophomore scored a fall in 1:13 against Dymeria Guillory of No. 12 nationally ranked Missouri Baptist University. Martinez followed up with a second straight pin against Ottawa College's (KS) Mikinlee Smith, needing just 33 seconds to claim the fall.
Martinez earned an impressive 12-0 tech fall in the third dual of the day against No. 8 nationally ranked Central Methodist University. Martinez closed out the day with a second 12-0 tech fall in the team's final dual of the day against No. 12 nationally ranked Iowa Wesleyan University.
With the four victories, Martinez currently ranks first all-time in school history with 19 victories while the sophomore's 11 falls rank second all-time.
The Warriors return to action after the holiday break at the York Open on January 14 in York, NE.
