WHERE ARE THEY NOW? NEXT LEVEL WARRIORS

Centerville, IA – In the program's first two seasons of competition, the Indian Hills Women's Wrestling team made history with back-to-back team and dual national championships. A number of individuals who helped build the program into a national power from the get-go have now moved on to continue their academic, athletic, and professional careers.

Take a closer look at each of the Warrior alums who are continuing to make an impact following their Indian Hills careers.

Annalease Barraza  |  Wayland Baptist College

Annalease Barraza earned third-team All-American honors in 2021 after placing third at the national tournament and was a two-year member of the Warrior program that captured consecutive team and dual national titles. Barraza won 12 matches with eight pins throughout her career at IHCC.

Barraza moved on to Wayland Baptist where the Pioneers entered the year ranked No. 21 in the NAIA national polls. Barraza was credited as the 13th best wrestler in the nation in the 191lb weight class.

Chloe (Clemons) Loyd  |  Wahlert High School

One of the top female wrestlers in the state of Iowa coming out of high school, Chloe Clemons made an immediate impact for the Warriors in the program's first year of existence in 2020-21. Clemons became the first-ever 123lb junior college women's national champion while leading the Warriors to the team and dual national title in Roseburg, OR.

Clemons, who graduated from Indian Hills and received the Outstanding Student Award, now serves as the head girl's wrestling coach at Wahlert High School in Dubuque, IA where she continues to grow the sport of women's wrestling. The 2022-23 season marks the first year of sanctioned girls wrestling at the high school level in the state of Iowa.

Kari German  |  Simpson College

Kari German earned All-American honors as a sophomore in 2022, placing third in the 123lb bracket at the Junior College National Championship.

A native of Lamont, IA, German moved on to Simpson College where she ranks fifth on the team this year in victories. German has scored three victories in duals and earned a pair of falls to help the Storm to a 5-2 overall record.

Heaven-Leigh Jackson  |  Chadron State College

The first-ever two-time women's Junior College National Champion, Heaven-Leigh Jackson left her mark on the Indian Hills program throughout her storied career. Jackson won the 109lb national title in 2021 before winning the 116lb title in 2022. Jackson left Indian Hills with 28 career victories while leading the Warriors to back-to-back team and dual national titles.

Jackson is now competing for the women's wrestling team at Chadron State College. The Eagles, who were ranked No. 20 in the nation open the year, are coached by former Indian Hills assistant Alijah Jeffery.

Gracie Reyes  |  York College

Gracie Reyes helped lead the Warriors to the 2022 JCNC Team and Dual National Championship in her lone season at Indian Hills.

Reyes is in her first season of competition at York College, currently in the receiving votes category of the NAIA National Poll. 

Jamesa Robinson |  Brewton-Parker College

Jamesa Robinson was a two-time JCNC Second-Team All-American after finishing as a runner-up in the 116lb national tournament bracket in both years at Indian Hills. Robinson, a member of back-to-back team and dual national titles for the Warriors, won 18 matches during her Warrior career.

Robinson transferred to Brewton-Parker College in Georgia where she has made an immediate impact for the Barons. Robinson, who was ranked No. 13 in the 116lb weight class to open the year, has won 13 matches to open the season, tied for fourth-most on the team. The Barons are 13-7 overall on the year.

Sofia Rubio  |  Chadron State College

Sofia Rbuio became the first-ever women's Junior College National Champion in the 191lb weight class in 2021 as a freshman. Rubio earned her second-career All-American honor as a sophomore in 2022 for the Warriors while helping the team to the team and dual national titles.

Rubio is now competing for the women's wrestling team at Chadron State College. The Eagles, who were ranked No. 20 in the nation open the year, are coached by former Indian Hills assistant Alijah Jeffery.

Celeste Tellez  |  York College

A two-time JCNC National Champion, Celeste Tellez left Indian Hills as the all-time leader in total matches with 47 throughout her two-year career. Tellez placed third overall in the 136lb weight class in 2022 while helping the Warriors claimed their second consecutive team and dual national title.

Tellez now competes at York College (NE) and has competed in a number of events in the 136lb weight class with multiple victories. York entered the year ranked No. 20 in the NAIA National Rankings while Tellez was ranked 16th nationally in the 136lb weight class.

Mya Turnmire  |  Iowa Wesleyan College

Mya Turnmire took home the 2022 Junior College National Championship in the 101lb weight class to lead the Warriors to the team and dual national titles. Turnmire left Indian Hills with 20 career victories and was a two-time JCNC All-American after placing third as a freshman in 2021.

Turnmire moved on to Iowa Wesleyan College where the Tigers are ranked No. 11 in the latest NAIA national rankings. Turnmire has earned a pair of wins in the 101lb weight class in her first season for the Tigers. Turnmire was ranked No. 10 in the nation in the preseason rankings in the 101lb weight class.

Jordan Roths  |  Upper Iowa University

Former assistant coach Jordan Roths, who helped lead the Warriors to back-to-back national titles during his time in Centerville, is now the assistant wrestling coach at Upper Iowa University. Roths competed for the Peacocks as an undergradate and served on the coaching staff for three seasons before taking the position at Indian Hills. 

Alijah Jeffery  |  Chadtron State College

Former Indian Hills assistnat coach Alijah Jeffery now serves as head coach of the Chadron State College women's wrestling program. Jeffery, who was a member of the 2021 JCNC National Championship team at Indian Hills, took over at Chadron Sate in August of 2021 and has helped build a roster of 28 individuals for the 2022-23 season.
