NO. 1 WARRIORS TOPPLE NO. 5 TRITONS

Centerville, IA – No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Women's Wrestling remained undefeated in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) action with a 34-20 win over No. 5 Iowa Central Community College at the Multi-Purpose Building Wednesday night. The Warriors move to 4-0 in league duals this year.

The Warriors claimed seven matches on the night in the team's final home dual of the regular season. Six of the seven victories came by way of a pin to cap the Warriors' undefeated regular season conference schedule.

Wednesday's dual opened up with with No. 1 nationally ranked Dutchess King (Lansing, IL/Thornton Fractional South) taking a pin in the 101lb matchup in just 56 seconds to give the Warriors five team points in the opening match.

Following a pin from the Tritons, No. 1 nationally ranked Shammilka Miranda Diaz (Puerto Rico/Eugenio Guerra Cruz), this week's ICCAC Women's Wrestler of the Week scored an 8-0 tech fall in the 116lb bout.

No. 2 Liannette Ortiz (Kissimmee, FL/Gateway) scored a second round fall in the 123lb matchup over No. 4 nationally ranked Rodiat Adedybtab of Iowa Central.

Defending national champion and No. 2 Alondra Rosado Martinez (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio Amarlieen) was victorious in the 136lb matchup with a fall in 2:40 in the opening round.

Freshman Kaitlyn Hain (Wellington, KS/Wellington) followed suit in the 143lb matchup with a pin in 1:32 in the first round for a 24-9 lead for the Warriors.

Iowa Central responded with a pin of their own in the 155lb dual, but No. 6 Yaracely Saenz (Bernalillo, NM/_) answered back with a second round pin over No. 7 Katy Schlosser.

With the team victory already in hand heading to the heavyweight bout, No. 2 Karla Padilla Zepeda (South Weber, UT/North Ridge) put the finishing touches on the Tritons with a second round fall over No. 7 Addison Hershberger.

The Warriors are back in action on Friday with a full day of competition. The Warriors will send a platoon of individuals to Leavenworth, KS for the Spire Classic, set to open up at 10:00 AM. Indian Hills will also compete in the annual CoEd Clash at William Penn University on Friday night with action opening up at 6:00 PM.

Friday's CoEd Clash is a part of a yearly doubleheader dual with the men's squads of both schools.
