2022-23 NJCAA WOMEN'S WRESTLING RANKINGS (INDIVIDUAL) - WEEK 4

Centerville, IA – The two-time defending national champs closed out the regular season atop the national polls as the Indian Hills Women's Wrestling squad received 159 points in the final National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rankings.

In the first year in competition at the NJCAA level, the Warriors went wire-to-wire at the No. 1 spot in the national poll. Indian Hills finished at No. 1 in the final ranking ahead of No. 2 Umpqua Community College (OR) while Southwestern Oregon Community College, Iowa Western Community College, and Iowa Central Community College rounded out the top-five.

Indian Hills closed out the regular season with an 8-1-1 dual record, including its final four matchups. The Warriors did not lose a match to a junior college opponent this year. Indian Hills went 5-0 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) this year to claim the first-ever regular season title.

In addition to the top team rank, the Warriors placed 18 individuals in the national rankings across 10 weight classes.

Freshman Dutchess King (Lansing, IL/Thornton Fractional South) remained the top-ranked wrestler in the 101lbs weight class for the third consecutive poll after a dominant finish to the regular season.

Freshman Shammilka Miranda Diaz (Puerto Rico/Eugenio Guerra Cruz) earned the No. 1 spot in the 116lbs weight class for the second consecutive poll after finishing the ICCAC portion of the schedule undefeated.

The Warriors placed three individuals in the 235lb weight class national rankings, led by freshman Eliana Bommarito (Brighton, MI/Hartland). Karla Padilla Zepeda (outh Weber, UT/North Ridge) is ranked No. 2 followed by No. 6 Brooke Burns (Wellington, KS / Wellington).

Sophomores Liannette Oritz (Kissimmee, FL/Gateway) and Alondra Rosado Martinez (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio Amarlieen) checked in at No. 2 in their respective weight classes of 123lbs and 136lbs.

Malachite Chunn (Jacksonville, NC/Jacksonville) checked in at No. 4 in the 109lb division and Kennedy Shropshire (Lawrenceville, GA/Mountain View) is ranked No. 4 at 116lbs.

Freshman Kaitlyn Hain (Wellington, KS/Wellington) climbed to No. 4 in the latest 143lb rankings while teammate A'myrha Dylina-Syyan (Seattle, WA/Waynesville) came in at No. 6.

The Warriors placed two individuals in the 155lb division as Suravieve Robertson (Garner, AR/Beebe) checked in at No. 3 and Erma Williams (Kansas City, MO/Liberty North) is ranked No. 7.

Yaracely Saenz climbed one spot to No. 5 at 170lbs following an impressive month of January on the mat.

Malia Cook (Muscatine, IA/Muscatine) is ranked No. 6 in the 136lb class for the Warriors.

Two individuals are ranked at 191lbs in – No. 4 Norma Alejondro (Olathe, CO/Olathe) and No. 6 Tiffany White (Oak Park, IL/Pak Park River Forest)

Freshman Javanica Mickens (Orlando, FL/Jones) entered the national rankings for the first time this season at No. 8 in the 116lb class.

The Warriors will take their No. 1 rank into first-ever NJCAA National Invitational, set for March 3-4 in Council Bluffs, IA at the Mid-America Center. Indian Hills will send 22 individuals to the national tournament.
