21 WARRIORS HEADED TO NATIONALS

Centerville, IA – The 2023 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women's Wrestling Invitational brackets have been released and the top-ranked Indian Hills Warriors will head to Council Bluffs, IA with 21 individuals set to compete.

The first-ever NJCAA Women's Wrestling Invitational gets underway March 3 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, IA as the Warriors enter the tournament as two-time defending Junior College National Champions (JCNC). The NJCAA officially sanctioned women's wrestling for the 2022-23 season.

Indian Hills received three top overall seeds in the upcoming tournament – Kennedy Shropshire (Lawrenceville, GA/Mountain View) in the 116lb bracket, Liannette Ortiz (Kissimmee, FL/Gateway) in the 123lb bracket, and Eliana Bommarito (Brighton, MI/Hartland) in the 235 bracket. 13 of the 21 individuals received top-five seeds in their respective bracket.

Indian Hills placed at least one individual in 10 of the 11 weight classes. The Warriors earned at least two individuals in seven different weight classes, including three in four different brackets.

The Warriors, ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA preseason national rankings, went the duration of the regular season atop the national poll. In the latest NJCAA National Rankings, 18 individuals were ranked in their respective weight class.
