SHANNON EARNS SECOND ICCAC WEEKLY HONOR

Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Alyssa Shannon (Newton, IA/Newton) broke 20 minutes for the first time in her collegiate career and has been rewarded with this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.

Shannon set a new personal record at the Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids, IA on Saturday. The freshman continued to improve on her times and placed 24th overall with a mark of 19:50.3 for the Warriors.

Shannon, the Indian Hills Community College Student-Athlete of the Month, has knocked off considerable time in each of her three 5k events to begin her collegiate career. Most recently, Shannon topped her previous personal best by over 40 seconds to land the weekly honor from the conference office.

Shannon has now claimed two ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors to go along with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

The Indian Hills Cross Country squad returns to action on October 14 as the team hosts its annual home meet, the Indian Hills Invitational at the Cedar Creek Golf Course at 4:00 PM.
