SHANNON, FLORES POWER WARRIORS AT HOME MEET

Ottumwa, IA – Alyssa Shannon (Newton, IA/Newton) and Lizeth Flores (Harvard, IL/Harvard) finished back-to-back to earn top-10 finishes on Friday as the Indian Hills Women's Cross Country team placed fourth overall at the Indian Hills Invitational.

Shannon, this week's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, and Flores were separated by just seven seconds to place seventh and eighth, respectively for the Warriors. As a team, Indian Hills totaled 94 points to finish behind Graceland University, Southeastern Community College, and Des Moines Area Community College.

Shannon crossed the line with an impressive time of 20:57.4 while Flores came in at 21:04.9.

Morgan Klaus (Bloomfield, IA/Davis County) placed 19th overall with a time of 21:56.3, the sophomore's best showing this season. Rachel Wildemuth (Davenport, IA/Davenport West) crossed the line at 24:19.9 followed by Cheyenne McGhee (El Paso, TX/El Paso) who clocked in at 24:59.4, good enough for 31st overall on Friday.

Graceland's Ashlynn Perkins was the top overall female finisher on Friday with a time of 19:11.4.

Indian Hills returns to action in two weeks at the NJCAA Region XI Championship in Fort Dodge, IA.
