THREE WARRIORS HEADED TO NATIONALS

Tallahassee, FL – Three members of the Indian Hills Cross Country team are set to head to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Cross Country Championships at Apalachee Regional Park on Saturday.

Three individuals, Brady Millikin (Hedrick, IA/Pekin), Lizeth Flores (Harvard, IL/Harvard), and Alyssa Shannon (Newton, IA/Newton) will make the trek to the Sunshine State to compete at the NJCAA National Championships. Millikin will compete on the men's 8k course while Flores and Shannon will compete on the 5k course.

Apalachee Regional Park has hosted a number of premier cross country events in recent years, including the 2021 NCAA National Championship.

BRADY MILLIKIN – SOPHOMORE

Millikin will make his second appearance at the national meet after competing at the 2021 nationals in Richmond, VA as a freshman. Millikin has put together a record-breaking season as a sophomore for the Warriors that has featured a number of dominant performances and individual accolades.

Millikin has collected two Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week honors to go along with a national runner of the week honor early in the year. The sophomore set the Indian Hills school record in the 6k in his first race of the year with a time of 19:34.5.

Along with his 6k performance, Millikin set a personal best in the 8k event this year with a time of 25:04.0 at the Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids, IA. Millikin wrapped up the year with a second-place showing at the annual Indian Hills Invitational followed by a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Region XI Championship, just the second top-five finish in program history at the postseason event.

LIZETH FLORES – SOPHOMORE

Flores has put together the most impressive performances of her Warrior career at the end of her sophomore campaign. Flores starred at the NJCAA Region XI Championship in Fort Dodge, IA with a 10th place finish. For her efforts, Flores was named to the ICCAC Second-Team All-Conference and the NJCAA All-Region XI Second-Team.

Flores reached a personal best at the Seminole Valley Stampede with a time of 20:39.8 on October 8. The sophomore placed eighth overall at the Indian Hills Invitational with a time of 21:04.9 on October 14 before the region championship performance on October 30 with a time of 20:44.71.

Flores brings national championship experience with her to Florida after helping guide the Warriors to their best-ever team finish a season ago in Richmond, VA.

ALYSSA SHANNON – FRESHMAN

Shannon has boasted a breakout freshman season for the Warriors that has garnered a pair of NJCAA DI Women's Cross Country National Runner of the Week honors and two ICCAC Athlete of the Week awards.

The freshman is coming off a 12th place showing at the NJCAA Region XI Championship to earn ICCAC Second-Team All-Conference and the NJCAA All-Region XI Second-Team honors. Shannon's highlight of the regular season came at the Seminole Valley Stampede with a time of 19:50.3. Shannon also earned a 10th place finish at the Dutch Cross Country Invitational and a seventh-place finish at the Indian Hills Invitational this year.
