MILLER SHINES AT HAWKEYE INVITATIONAL

Iowa City, IA – The Indian Hills Women's Cross Country squad opened its 2023 campaign Friday night at the Hawkeye Invitational as the lone junior college program to compete.

Freshman Brooke Miller (Fairfield, IA/Pekin) put together an impressive race in her collegiate debut, running a 4k time of 16:37.00 to lead Indian Hills.

"Brooke Miller ran a fantastic season opener," stated head coach Brent Ewing. "She was well ahead of pace to run a new personal best had the race been a 5k. She'll get that opportunity in two weeks."

Miller was joined by teammates Selket Reid-El (Jacksonville, FL/Raines) and Emily Lord (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) to compete. Reid-El posted a time of 19:27.60 followed by Lord's mark of 23:52.70.

"We've had a few bizarre injuries pop up these past few weeks," Ewing added "I'm expecting much better performances as the fall unfolds.

The Warriors competed against prominent NCAA DI programs Iowa, Creighton and Illinois State along with NCAA DII member Truman State.

Indian Hills returns to action September 15 at the Bradley Intercollegiate at Detweiller Park in Peoria, IL.
