CAMPOS, HENSLEY LEAD WARRIORS TO 3-1 WIN

Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Baseball team earned a 3-1 victory in its home opener at Pat Daugherty Field, dropping St. Cloud Technical & Community College on Tuesday afternoon. The Warriors improve to 6-4 overall on the year.

In a battle of outstanding pitching performances, the Warriors received strong outings from starter Greg Campos (Laredo, TX/United South) and reliever Dade Hensley (Mason, OH/Mason). The duo combined to allow just three hits and the one earned run while striking out 12 batters, including a season-best nine from Campos. Campos improved to 2-0 on the mound this year while Hensley was credited with his first save of the year and third of his career.

The Warriors collected seven hits on the afternoon, including two from leadoff hitter Daniel Figueroa (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico/Leadership Christian Academy). Noah Butler (Houston, TX/Goose Creek Memorial) extended his hitting streak to four games while Thomas Emerich (Ava, MO/Ava) recorded the lone RBI on the day.

Indian Hills struck first in the second inning as Emerich singled to center to score Gerardo Villarreall (Laredo, TX/United South) for the 1-0 lead. Diego Aragon (Fort Collins, CO/Fort Collins) laid down a sacrifice and later teamed up with Emerich for a double steal as Emerich broke for home and put the Warriors up 2-0.

St. Cloud Tech got on the board in the third with a solo home run, the lone mistake of the day for Campos. Butler added the final run in the fifth after taking advantage of a Cyclone miscue.

Hensley worked the final three innings of relief for the Warriors, allowing just one base hit along the way.

The two teams are back in action tomorrow afternoon for a doubleheader set to begin at 12:00 PM at Pat Daugherty Field.
