WARRIORS DROP SERIES FINALE TO NORTHEAST

Norfolk, NE – The Indian Hills Baseball team suffered a series-ending loss at Northeast Community College (NE) on Monday. The Warriors dropped the conference finale of the three-game series 7-4.

Indian Hills falls to 27-13 overall and 17-7 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). Despite the loss, the Warriors captured the series after winning the first two games on Sunday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field.

The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning as Aliskair Descartes (Thornton, CO/Unidad Educativa Colegio Libertador) singled and drove in Merrick Mathews (Centerville, IA/Centerville) for the game's first run. Northeast got on the board with a run in the fourth before Ricardo Van Grieken (Merida, Venezuela/San Luis) drove in Daniel Figueroa (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico/Leadership Christian Academy) in the fifth.

The Hawks broke the game open in the bottom half of the fifth with four runs scored and added two more in the seventh. The Warriors managed a run in the ninth, but failed to erase the deficit any more.

Mathews finished the game with a pair of hits for the Warriors.
