WARRIORS SPLIT AT HOME WITH ST. CLOUD

Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Baseball team split a nonconference doubleheader with St. Cloud Technical & Community College at Pat Daugherty Field on Tuesday. The Warriors took game one 11-1 before falling 4-3 in the second game of the twinbill.

The Warriors jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning of game one. Tucker Ebest (Austin, TX/Lasa) and James Dutton (Toronto, Ont/Forrest Hill CollegiatE) both delivered two-run singles before Diego Aragon (Fort Collins, CO/Fort Collins) added a run-scoring base hit for the 5-0 lead.

St. Cloud got on the board with a run in the second before holding the Warriors scoreless over the next two frames. The Indian Hills bats came back to life in the fourth with three runs, including a two-run single from Aragon. The Warriors plated three more in the fifth as Ebest collected two more RBI on a base hit for the run-rule shortened victory.

Ebest, Dutton, and Aragon all collected two hits while Jackson Romero (Fort Collins, CO/Resurrection Christian) and Gerardo Villarreal (Laredo, TX/United South) scored three runs each. Jack Payne (San Antonio, TX/Clark) earned the win with 2.2 innings of relief work, allowing just one hit while striking out five.

The Cyclones opened game two with a pair of runs in each of the first two innings to a take a 4-0 lead, a deficit the Warriors could not overcome. Dutton delivered a fifth inning solo home run to put the Warriors on the board. Indian Hills added tow more in the sixth, including an RBI from Dutton to pull within one, but failed to push the tying run across.

The Warriors are set to host Ellsworth for a single game on Thursday, April 17 at Pat Daugherty Field.
