WARRIORS CRACK TOP-20 AFTER 8-0 START

Ottumwa, IA – Following an 8-0 start to the year, the Indian Hills Baseball team has garnered national attention as the Warriors broke into the national rankings on Monday, checking in at No. 20 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Baseball Poll.

The Warriors cracked the top-20 for the first time since the preseason poll of the 2018 season where the program sat at No. 19 in the national rankings. The Warriors have received votes in numerous polls since, including a stretch in 2022. Indian Hills is off to its best start since the 2021 season and are 8-0 to open the year for just the third time since 2003.

Indian Hills has posted back-to-back 4-0 weekends in Millington, TN to jump into the national rankings. The Warriors most recently wrapped up play at the Babe Howard JUCO Classic at the USA Baseball Stadium over the weekend with a four-game sweep, outscoring their opponents 25-8. On the year, Indian Hills has outscored the opposition 60-23.

The Warrior pitching staff has seen a number of impressive showings on the mound that has led to a 3.67 team earned run average. On the year, the staff currently leads the nation with a .176 batting average against and ranks third nationally with a 1.00 WHIP.

Gulf Coast State College (FL) took over the No. 1 spot in the first national poll of the year followed by Gaston College (NC), Weatherford College (TX), Tyler Junior College (TX), and Iowa Western Community College to round out the top-five.

The Warriors are back in action this weekend with a four-game road trip to Cowley Community College (KS). Action gets underway on Friday from Arkansas City, KS.
