TORRES, HUEBNER SWEEP WEEKLY AWARDS

Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Baseball team swept the weekly Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week honors as sophomore Raul Torres (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Leadership Christian Academy) and Cole Huebner (Edmonton, Alberta/Strathcona) racked up the weekly accolades.

Torres and Huebner powered the Warriors to a 4-0 week in conference play as the Warriors, who remained in the 'Others Receiving Votes' category in the national rankings, improved to 19-4 overall on the year and 4-0 in the ICCAC. For their efforts, Torres was named the ICCAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season while Huebner was named the ICCAC Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Torres' torrid start to the year continued as the sophomore infielder powered the potent Warrior offense last week. The primary shortstop boasted an impressive .565 batting average (13-23) through all four games last week with three doubles, nine runs scored, and 12 RBI. The sophomore extended his season-long hitting streak to nine games after colleting at least three hits in all four contests as the Warriors outscored their opponents 76-14.

Torres upped his team-leading batting average to .425 and has reached base safely in 21 consecutive contests. Torres, who has reached base in 22 of the team's 23 games this year, also leads the team in RBI (25), doubles (8), and slugging percentage (.616).

Huebner produced another dominant outing on the mound for the second consecutive appearance. The freshman hurler went five innings without allowing a run in a 24-0 conference victory over Southwestern Community College. Huebner scattered six hits and struck out a season-high 10 batters without issuing a walk.

With his second consecutive scoreless outing, Huebner lowered his earned run average to a team-best 1.19, tied for the sixth-lowest mark in the nation this year. Huebner, who owns a 3-1 record on the year, has not allowed more than one earned run in five appearances this season.

The Warriors return to action Wednesday afternoon at Pat Daugherty Field against North Iowa Area Community College for an ICCAC twinbill at 2:00 PM.
