CRUZ EARNS ICCAC WEEKLY HONOR

Centerville, IA – Freshman Fano Cruz (Viera, FL/Viera) of the Indian Hills Baseball team put together a productive week at the plate while contributing on the mound to earn Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Baseball Athlete of the Week honors.

In four games at the plate last week, Cruz produced a .500 batting average in 14 at bats, including three extra base hits. The freshman infielder tallied 10 RBI and three runs scored as the Warriors picked up a pair of ICCAC victories at Pat Daugherty Field.

Cruz opened the week with a breakout performance against Ellsworth Community College, going 2-4 with two triples and a career-high four RBI. The freshman followed up three days later with his second-career home run while tallying a new personal-best five RBI.

Cruz capped the weekend with another impressive day at the dish with a career-high three hits in the series finale against Northeast Community College.

On the mound, Cruz made his fourth appearance of the season in the series opener against Northeast on Friday as the freshman went 2.2 innings to earn the victory for the Warriors.

Cruz owns a .333 batting average this season with six extra base hits and 26 RBI.

The Warriors return to action April 18 at home vs. Marshalltown Community College. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
